This page explains which cookies and similar techniques Webclouds uses, why we use them and how you stay in control. It complements our privacy policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that get stored on your device when you visit a website. Some cookies are required for the site to work, others help us understand how the site is used or personalise content. Where we say “cookies” below, we also mean related techniques such as localStorage, sessionStorage and tracking pixels.
2. Which cookies we use
Cookies fall into the categories below. Non-essential cookies are only placed after your explicit consent via our cookie banner.
Strictly necessary
These cookies are needed to make the website and client portal work. You can't log in without them. No consent is required to set them.
- __clerk_* — manages your login session in the client portal. Retained for the session, up to 7 days.
- webclouds:cookie-consent— remembers the choice you made in our banner so we don't ask again. Retained for 12 months in localStorage.
- webclouds:theme — remembers your light/dark mode preference. Retained for 12 months in localStorage.
Functional
Functional cookies improve your experience — for example by remembering form input briefly or reacting to your preferences. They don't contain personal data we share with third parties.
Analytics
We use a privacy-friendly analytics solution to measure site usage in an anonymised way: which pages people visit, how they got to us and where the experience breaks down. We only use this data to improve the site. IP addresses are anonymised before storage and we don't share individual usage data with third parties.
Marketing
We currently don't set cookies from external advertising networks. If that ever changes, we'll ask for your explicit consent via the cookie banner first and update this policy.
3. Third-party cookies
A few cookies are set by services we rely on to keep the site running:
- Clerk — authentication provider for the client portal. Required for login.
- Vercel — hosting and security cookies that may be set at the infrastructure layer, for example for rate limiting.
- Supabase — our database and storage provider. Sets short, technical tokens during sessions to authorise file uploads.
4. Managing your choice
You're in control of cookies at all times:
- Via our cookie banner — it appears on your first visit and you can change your choice later by clearing site data for our domain or by re-visiting the site in incognito.
- Via your browser — every modern browser lets you view, block or delete cookies. Heads up: disabling strictly necessary cookies can break parts of the site.
Browser instructions: Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge all have a “Privacy & security” or “Cookies and site data” section in their settings.
5. Changes
When the cookies we use change, we update this policy and, where needed, our cookie banner. The date at the top shows when the policy was last revised.
